Three towns carry a page beneath this one, and Jackson County spreads 9,861 people over 703 square miles of southwestern farmland. An order taken in the morning is arranged by hand near the recipient and driven to the door the same working day, Monday through Saturday. Nothing goes out on a Sunday, and this page says so up front.

Three ZIP codes carry the whole of Jackson County: 56143 at the seat, 56150 for Lakefield and 56137 out at Heron Lake. A large share of the orders that arrive are not for a street in one of those towns at all. They are for a farm place on a numbered road that takes its mail from one of the three, which is where the address line has to do more work than the code does.
For a farm address, a house number plus a road name plus one landmark is the combination that works. A bin site, a shelterbelt, the second drive past a culvert: any one of those turns a long search into a short one. Add a number that the recipient will answer and the whole thing usually resolves on the first attempt.
Institutions want the opposite. Sanford Jackson Medical Center works from a patient list and will hold an arrangement at the desk until somebody can carry it up, so a ward and a correctly spelled name matter more than anything else on the order. Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Lakefield handles resident deliveries the same way.
There is a town called Jackson and it is the seat, so the two names get used as though they were one thing. They are two pages, and the town of Jackson keeps a separate page of its own covering its own streets under 56143, and this wider page collects every town in the county and links down to each of them.
The other two sit out on the flat. Lakefield is north east of the seat and Heron Lake is further out again on the western side. Each has a page here with its own streets and its own named places, and an order for one is not the same run as an order for another.
Neighboring pages take over at the lines. Martin County, MN lies directly east, while Nobles County, MN picks up the western side and Cottonwood County, MN takes the ground to the north.
Everything in this part of Minnesota runs on Central time, and there is no corner of the county that does not. An order placed before 1 PM Central time is handed to a florist for the same working day. Anything after that hour is built the next morning instead, which is a plain statement rather than a hedge.
Read backward from the recipient, the hour moves. Somebody sending from the mountain zone is working to a noon deadline at home, and somebody on the west coast has until eleven in the morning. That single conversion accounts for most of the orders that miss the day, and it costs nothing to check before you click.
Flower delivery runs Monday through Saturday and Sunday is not available. Arrivals fall between 9 AM and 7 PM. A morning or an afternoon can be asked for at checkout and will be worked toward, though it stays a preference and never becomes a booked slot. In the weeks around the biggest holidays the same-day list closes earlier still.
When a death happens in a county this size, everybody involved knows the funeral home before the flowers are ordered. Call them first and take the visitation hour from them. Everything else, the size of the piece and the day it should land, follows from that hour rather than from anything on this page.
Standing work goes to the service where a room of people can see it. Something low and modest goes to the house, and it lands better in the week after rather than the day of. Both are ordinary and both are appreciated, and a great many senders in Jackson County do one then the other.
If a piece arrives damaged or on the wrong day, raise it within three days, because there is nothing left to look at after that. What follows is a replacement, a refund or a partial credit, and which one applies depends entirely on what went wrong.
A useful trick for choosing at a distance is to picture the door it has to go through and the surface it will sit on. A compact vase design clears both without help. A tall standing piece needs a stand and a floor, which a house has and a nursing room does not.
Color and variety are the least important decisions here. A florist near the seat is building from what came in that week, and the substitution policy covers the gap honestly: a stem that is not available is replaced by another of the same standing, and the arrangement keeps its size, its shape and its value.
The photograph closes it. Once the piece is finished, a picture of that arrangement is sent at no extra charge, so a sender outside Minnesota knows what was actually built rather than what was on screen. On a page about three small towns, that image does more for confidence than any description could.
Birthdays, anniversaries and thank you orders are the everyday traffic into Jackson County, and none of them carry a fixed hour. That makes them the forgiving ones. An arrangement that arrives at five in the afternoon has done exactly the same job as one that arrived at ten in the morning.
New arrivals are the exception, since a short hospital stay means the room may be empty by lunchtime. Ask for a morning slot and keep the piece small enough to belt into a car. A get well order works the same way and is better sent the day you hear than the day before discharge.
Sizes sit beside every design in the catalog, which answers the doorway question in a few seconds. Every other county across Minnesota is listed on the Minnesota county index, and it is the place to start if the address you were handed turns out to sit over one of the lines above.
