Flowers Across Lafourche Parish, LA

Sympathy Orders From the Top of the Bayou

Thibodaux Funeral Home handles a large share of the services at the northern end, and a standing spray addressed to a chapel needs to arrive while the room is being prepared rather than once the service has begun. Anything later has to wait outside it.

Flowers to a family home belong at a different point in the week. They come after the service, they want to be smaller, and they are the ones still on a table when everybody else has gone back to work.

Where the address is a ward, Thibodaux Regional Medical Center and Ochsner St Anne General Hospital in Raceland both hold deliveries at a desk, and a full name with a room number on the card does more good than any note on the outside of a box.

Distance is what complicates all of it here. A service at the southern end of Lafourche Parish and a florist working from the north are a long way apart, and an order placed early in the morning buys room that an order placed at the cutoff does not.

Fourteen Towns and the Water Between Them

About 95,342 people live across 1,068 square miles of Lafourche Parish, and almost the whole population sits along a single line of water rather than spread across the ground. Thibodaux holds the seat at the northern end.

Raceland and Lockport sit below it, with Larose further down, and Cut Off and Golden Meadow near the bottom. Mathews, Chackbay, Lafourche Crossing and Bayou Blue fill in between them, with Kraemer inland to the west and Lockport Heights beside the seat.

ZIP codes 70301 and 70310 cover the seat, 70394 belongs to the middle, and 70345 and 70357 take in the lower towns. Terrebonne Parish, LA runs along the western boundary, Jefferson Parish, LA sits to the east, and the Louisiana parish index lists everywhere else in Louisiana.

Home Addresses at the Far South End

An address near the coast is the longest run on this page and the one most worth getting exactly right. A house number without a street name is common on a bayou road, and a description of the property is worth more than any amount of care over the flowers.

A phone number for the recipient solves the rest. Nobody home is the single commonest reason a delivery has to be attempted twice, and somebody who can be reached can meet the arrangement at the door instead.

Workplace addresses along the water are their own case, since a yard gate is not a reception. Writing the site name and the gate on the order does more than anything else to make sure the piece is handed to the right person.

Anything wrong has three days from the delivery to be raised, since cut flowers cannot be judged fairly after that. From there the arrangement can be remade, the order refunded, or part of it credited back against what was paid.

Birthdays, New Baby Notes and Anniversary Nights

Birthday orders into Lafourche Parish are the steadiest thing that leaves for these addresses, and they are also the easiest to get right. Bright mixed color in a vase suits nearly everybody, and the one real decision is house or workplace.

A new baby wants low, light and easy to move, because the room it lands in already has too much in it. Anything that needs two hands and a clear surface will be shifted twice on the first afternoon and resented by the evening.

An anniversary wants the opposite: fewer shades and more reach upward. Height on a dining table earns its place where a low wide bowl of the same value simply sits there, and that gap shows up most in a house where the table gets used for everything.

The 1 PM Central Line and a Long Drive

An order for Lafourche Parish confirmed before 1 PM Central time is arranged and delivered the same working day. The zone is the one at the address rather than the one the sender is sitting in, and on a page this long the hour matters more at the southern end than at the northern.

Flower deliveries run Monday through Saturday and land between 9 AM and 7 PM. Sunday is not available, so a Sunday event needs its flowers on the Saturday, and an order confirmed on Saturday evening will not move until Monday morning.

A specific hour can be requested and will be passed along, though it stays a request. Around Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas and Easter the same-day cutoff can also come earlier, which matters most for the longest runs.

Peak weeks are worth planning around more here than on a compact page, because the extra volume and the extra distance arrive in the same week. Ordering two days out in those weeks costs nothing at all and removes the only real risk on a run of this length.

Choose a Design That Holds Its Shape

A long drive is harder on flowers than a short one, and the design decides how well the piece copes with it. A vased arrangement sitting in water travels better than a hand-tied bunch, and a compact build travels better than a tall airy one. The catalog of designs shows both.

Firmer stems are worth choosing over softer ones for the same reason, which is another argument for describing an order by color and shape and letting the florist substitute where the market is short that morning. The size, shape and value stay as ordered either way.

The last check is the address as the recipient writes it. A delivery into Cut Off, LA near the bottom and one into Chackbay, LA inland are two very different drives out of the same Lafourche Parish morning, and an incomplete line turns one attempt into two.
