Send Flowers in Sangamon County, IL

Sangamon County covers 868 square miles, which is more ground than most counties in the state, and the run from Pleasant Plains on one side to Illiopolis on the other is a long one. That distance is the reason an address here needs a postal code rather than a town name. Twenty-one towns sit under this page, and Springfield holds most of the population.

Birthday Flowers, Anniversary Orders and Graduations

A birthday can be moved by a day and an anniversary cannot, which decides how early an order should go in. A graduation piece for a house at Chatham at the end of May is fixed by the ceremony. A retirement piece for somebody finishing at Memorial Medical Center wants to be at a desk before the last shift ends rather than an hour after it. A birthday at a house in Rochester can slide to the Monday without anybody minding.

Thank-you and get-well orders carry no deadline, and both tend to be smaller than the sender pictured. A get-well piece going to a ward needs a container rather than wrapping, because nobody on a ward has a spare jug. Every design in the arrangement pages is shown at the size it goes out at, which is the quickest way to tell a locker piece from a floor piece. Boardman-Smith Funeral Home and Ruby Funeral Services and Chapel are two more named addresses in the city.

Sangamon County, Twenty-One Towns and 868 Square Miles

About 194,300 people live here and well over half of them sit in and around the seat, which is why a delivery run in this part of Illinois splits cleanly into two kinds of job. An address in the city is a short hop. An address at Mechanicsburg under 62545 or at Auburn under 62615 is a drive. Twenty-two named addresses sit inside the county line, and most of them are at the seat.

Forty-five ZIP codes cover the county, which is a long list for one page, and the block from 62701 upward belongs to the built-up middle. Past the line the pages change: Menard County, IL takes the ground to the north and Christian County, IL the ground to the south. The Illinois county index lists all of them by name.

Sympathy Orders, Chapels and the Family House

A funeral sets a deadline that belongs to the family. Bisch Funeral Home and Butler Funeral Home both take standing work at their chapels, and Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home in Mechanicsburg does the same out east. The piece needs to be there while the room is being set out rather than once the family has arrived, so the morning of the service is the practical target. Ellinger-Kunz Funeral Home is another on the list, and which chapel takes the service is what decides the address.

Flowers to the house work better a week later, when the callers have thinned and there is room on a surface. Where a resident has died at Villa Health Care East in Sherman or at Arcadia Care Auburn, the address is the chapel taking the service and not the home. Staab in Sherman is another chapel on the same short list.

Same-Day Orders and the 1 PM Central Hour

An order placed before 1 PM Central time reaches a Sangamon County address the same business day, and one placed after it goes out the next working day. Flower deliveries run Monday through Saturday, and Sunday delivery is not available, so a Sunday service anywhere on this page has to be covered on the Saturday. A Saturday order is the last chance of the week for anything wanted before the Monday morning. Arrivals land between 9 AM and 7 PM.

The hour is the recipient's rather than the sender's. Somebody ordering from the west coast is working to an 11 AM deadline at home, and somebody on the east coast has until early afternoon. During Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas and Easter that same-day hour can come earlier, and in a county of forty-five postal areas the day ahead is the safer choice.

Apartment Numbers, Office Floors and Farm Roads

An apartment needs its unit and an office needs its floor, because a building with one reception has one place a piece can be left and a dozen places it needs to go. St Johns Hospital takes arrangements at reception, and a room number is what gets one upstairs on the same visit. Arc at Sangamon Valley wants a resident's full name instead of a room, and Concordia Village Care Center and Regency Care both take work at a front desk.

Out on the farm roads the postal code does the work. A house at Riverton or out past Williamsville is found by number and ZIP rather than by a description of the turning. Where the recipient is out through the day a workplace beats a doorstep, and in a July here a step in the sun is the worst option on the list. A Sangamon County address out on a numbered road is a different job from one four blocks from the courthouse.

Substitution Explained Without the Small Print

Flower types may be substituted for what the florist has on hand, and across 868 square miles the bench making a piece may be two minutes from the address or forty. The arrangement type does not change with the stems: size, shape and value stay as ordered, and the substitute is chosen to sit as near the original as the day's stock allows. A February order into 62704 is where a sender is likeliest to meet it.

A photo of the finished arrangement is sent once the florist has made it, at no extra charge, which for a sender who has never seen the house is the only real check on scale. Perishable goods get a short window: three days from the delivery to raise a complaint, with a replacement, a refund or a partial credit as the answers. Sangamon County, IL runs on the same terms as the rest of Illinois.
