Washington Park, FL flower delivery by a florist

Broward County, with Fort Lauderdale as seat

The first question from a sender out of state is the deadline. Orders placed before 1 PM Eastern time reach the recipient the same business day, and the hour is always read on the recipient's clock. On the West Coast that moment arrives at 10 AM; in the middle of the country it is noon. Miss it by a few minutes and the arrangement is scheduled for the next delivery day, with the card unchanged.

Washington Park sits in Broward County, FL, where Fort Lauderdale is the county seat, and the county page lists its many cities. For an address in the county next door, Miami-Dade County, FL has its own page, on the same Eastern clock.

If the recipient actually lives in Fort Lauderdale, FL or Franklin Park, FL, use those pages instead. The cutoff and hours match; only the address differs. Broward's cities run into one another, and plenty of people give the name of the larger city next door when asked where they live, so the ZIP on their mail is the fairer test.

Close-set doors across Washington Park

Around 1,948 people were counted here in 2020, on roughly a quarter of a square mile, so the addresses flower orders go to sit close together: houses, duplexes and small apartment buildings. The detail that goes missing is the unit number, so add it, along with a building letter if there is one.

Deliveries arrive between 9 AM and 7 PM. A preferred time can be asked for at checkout, but it stays a request, and for a small building it is worth naming someone in the household who can answer the door during the window.

Small buildings rarely have a lobby or a package room, so the arrangement is handed to whoever answers. If the recipient works long hours, a workplace address on a weekday may be the better call, with the company name and floor on the order.

Duplexes often share a street number with an A and a B. Put the letter on the order; it is the difference between flowers delivered to the right door and flowers left with a neighbor.

Which town the mail carrier writes

With no local government, the community is recorded as a census-designated place, and the mail may name a different town, so the order should copy the mail. Before you send flowers to Washington Park, check the recipient's letters and use that town name with ZIP 33311.

A place called Washington Park also exists in Illinois, and a rushed search can confuse the two, so confirm that the delivery address says Florida and FL before paying. A Washington Park florist in Illinois cannot reach a door in Broward County.

Florist delivery here is by hand, not by parcel. A local florist arranges the design and it is carried to the door, which matters in a place where many recipients live in units without a secure spot for a box.

A Sunday cake, a Saturday bouquet in Washington Park

Arrivals run Monday through Saturday, and Sunday delivery is not available. For a birthday in Washington Park that lands on a Sunday, have the flowers come on the Saturday, when they will still look fresh on the day, and let the card say they are a little early on purpose.

Holiday weeks tighten the timing. The same-day line can come earlier than 1 PM near Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas and Easter, so for those dates it is safer to order flowers a day ahead, while the Broward florists still have room on the schedule.

Flowers after the new baby comes home

Send flowers to the family after they are back home rather than to the hospital, where the stay may be short. A small arrangement fits a crowded apartment better than a tall one, and a card naming both parents is enough. If an older sibling is at home, a line for them on the card is a kind touch; they often feel forgotten in the first weeks. A weekday arrival tends to be quieter than a Saturday, when visitors may already be there. Flowers sent a week later, once the first wave of gifts has passed, are often the ones the parents remember best.

A florist in Washington Park's part of the county works from the stems on hand that day, so flower types may be substituted, with no change to the size, shape or value of the arrangement. A photo of the finished arrangement is sent at no extra charge.
