Picking A Piece For Odell

Choose by the room the piece will stand in rather than by the photo on the screen. A tall vase suits a hall table at Odell and a low bowl suits a kitchen counter, so sort the catalog by size before anything else is decided.

The city of Hood River keeps a separate page for its own streets, and this Hood River County page collects the towns around it. That distinction matters here more than in most places, because the county and its seat carry exactly the same name.

Three towns is a short list, and two of them sit at opposite ends of the 522 square miles while the third is the seat. Between them they take in 97014, 97031 and 97044, and no address on this page is far from one of the other two.

The 1 PM Hour At Cascade Locks

Order before 1 PM Pacific time for same-day flower delivery to 97014, 97031 or 97044, which is every ZIP code in Hood River County. Past that hour the order becomes a next working day one.

Flower delivery runs Monday through Saturday to Cascade Locks and the two towns east of it, Sunday delivery is not available, and arrivals fall between 9 AM and 7 PM. A sender on the east coast is three hours ahead of the recipient here, which for once leaves the whole of a working morning in hand.

Hospital Addresses In Hood River

Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital takes flowers at its main desk and not at a ward door, so a patient name and a room number are worth more than any note about the hour. Hood River Post Acute works the same way, where a resident's full name does the work.

An orchard address up the valley at Odell is found by the road and the block rather than by a house number, so a landmark in the notes is worth more here than a unit number would be in a city. Cascade Locks is the opposite case: one main street, and very nearly everything on it.

The county is only 522 square miles, the smallest in this part of Oregon, so the distance between an address at Cascade Locks and one at Odell is measured in minutes. What costs time here is a street name that turns up in two towns at once, which is why the ZIP belongs on the order.

Seasonal Swaps In A Narrow Valley

Flower types are substituted for what a florist near the water can buy that morning, and in an orchard valley that list swings hard with the season. The type of arrangement holds: the size, the shape and the value stay exactly where they were.

The valley is narrow and the weather in it turns fast, which is the kind of week a substitution exists for. An order placed here on a Monday and one placed on a Friday can meet two entirely different coolers.

A photo of the finished arrangement is sent once it is made, at no extra charge. Wasco County, OR begins east of the Hood River County line, Clackamas County, OR lies away to the southwest, and the rest of Oregon is listed at Oregon flower delivery.
