Tompkins County, NY Flowers by Hand

Choose a Size for Trumansburg

Size is the decision worth making first, and it is the one most senders make last. A piece that looks right on a screen is often twice the height of the surface it is going on, and that is a problem in a room rather than a detail.

Low and wide belongs on a table, a desk or a bedside. Upright belongs on a floor stand or a reception counter. Very little works in both places, so picture the room before picking the design.

Color comes after that, and it travels badly in words. A short description of where the flowers will stand is more useful on an order than a long description of what they should look like.

Twelve Towns Around Ithaca

Ithaca carries most of the addresses on this page, with Trumansburg to the north west, Danby to the south and Varna just east of the city. South Hill, Forest Home, Cayuga Heights, Northwest Ithaca, Jacksonville, East Ithaca, Northeast Ithaca and South Lansing fill in the twelve.

Seven postal codes cover the whole of Tompkins County, and 14850 alone accounts for a large share of them. The other six thin out quickly, which is why a road name on the order matters more the further from the city the address sits.

Ithaca is the seat as well as the largest town, which is not true of most pages here. It means that a Tompkins County order is usually a short run, and that the exceptions out toward Danby and Jacksonville are the ones worth writing an instruction for. Tompkins County is 475 square miles, and the city sits near the middle of it.

Seasonal Gaps at Cayuga Heights

What can be sourced in this part of New York changes month by month, and no honest page pretends otherwise. When a stem is unavailable, another of the same kind is used and the size, the shape and the value of the arrangement are held to the order.

Once the arrangement is finished, a photo of it goes to the person who paid, at any of the seven Tompkins postal codes. For a sender in another time zone that photo is the only view of the actual piece, and there is no charge for it.

Danby and the 1 PM Hour

Same-day orders into any of the seven postal codes here have to be placed before 1 PM Eastern time, read from the clock at the delivery address. From the far side of the country the deadline lands mid-morning, earlier than most senders assume.

Flower delivery runs Monday through Saturday to every one of the seven Tompkins County postal codes, Sunday delivery is not available anywhere between Jacksonville and South Lansing, and the window on the six working days is between 9 AM and 7 PM.

Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca takes flowers at a main desk rather than at a room, as do Kendal at Ithaca and Beechtree Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. Bangs Funeral Home handles service pieces, and the viewing time rather than the order time decides when those should arrive. One call to the home settles it.

Cortland County, NY lies to the north east, and Schuyler County, NY sits over to the west. The rest of New York is indexed at the New York county index, and the full catalog sorts every design by occasion.
