Why this page has no town hall to cite

A place with no town hall cannot set one postal name, so mail may carry another town's name. ZIP 13045 appears on this page and on the page for Cortland, NY, which means the ZIP cannot tell the two apart; the name and the street have to.

Ask the recipient to read the line from a recent envelope. If it says Cortland West, order here. If it says Cortland, the order belongs on that city's page. A sender who types Cortland West NY into a search box may land on either, so the check at the order summary matters.

Because the two places share a code, a sender who copies the ZIP from memory risks the wrong page more than most. The street name is the better guide, and a description of the house in the notes helps whoever carries the bouquet.

A sender who can reach the recipient may ask for a photo of the front door and the mailbox; the street number on the box is the surest detail of all. Shared ZIPs are common around small census-designated places, so a ZIP match proves less than a sender expects.

Cortland and McGraw on the label

The places likeliest to appear on a label beside this one are Varna, NY and McGraw, NY, with Munsons Corners, NY not far off, and South Lansing, NY and Northeast Ithaca, NY have pages too. Florists near Cortland West make the design, so the page should match the recipient's town.

People who type flower shop in Cortland West find a page and not a counter. A florist in Cortland West or close by builds each order, and the bouquet range shows the sizes. To send flowers to Cortland West, the street does more than the ZIP, since the ZIP is shared.

The New York page covers anywhere else in New York with the same days and cutoff. A recipient who works in the city and lives in this place may be easier to reach at the workplace between 9 AM and 7 PM on a weekday.

Saturday delivery is possible and Sunday is not, so an order for a Sunday event should be built around Saturday afternoon. A card dated for Sunday can still be written and tucked into the arrangement.

Anniversary roses for a Cortland West door

Anniversary flowers delivered to a house suit a vase that stands on its own: roses for romance, a mixed bouquet for warmth. A card with a few lines in the sender's own words does more than a printed verse.

An anniversary after many years suits a quiet bouquet and a handwritten line, while a first anniversary suits something playful. A color or a mood in the notes helps, though the florist chooses the stems.

A Sunday anniversary means a Saturday delivery, since Sunday delivery is not available, and the order should be placed before 1 PM Eastern time. A time can be asked for in the notes but not promised, so surprise plans need a backup.

Flower types may be substituted for what the florist has on hand, and the arrangement keeps its size, shape and value. A photo of the finished arrangement goes to the sender at no extra charge. Funeral flowers in Cortland West go to the funeral home or church named in the notice, with the hour on the order.

An address with land around it benefits from a description of the entrance, a gate or a porch. Order flowers a day ahead for any fixed date, and Cortland West flower delivery is timed on the recipient's clock. Flowers delivered in the late afternoon find more households at home. A recipient on a main road may see more traffic at the door than one on a side street, so the notes can say whether to use the front or the side; one line is enough.
