Fairfield County is the busiest corner of Connecticut for flower delivery, and it is also the most spread out. The seat at Bridgeport holds the large institutions, but the county reaches from Byram on the western edge up to Shelton in the north, and an address in one of those places is the better part of an hour from an address in the other. What follows is how a delivery actually runs here, and what the cutoff means depending on where in CT the recipient sits.
A large share of the urgent orders that come in for this part of Connecticut are going to a named institution rather than to a house, and institutions have their own rules. Bridgeport Hospital on Grant Street takes deliveries through its own front desk, and arrangements for patients are logged there before they go up to a floor. Mozaic Senior Life on Park Avenue and the Springs at 3030 Park, both in Bridgeport, handle flowers the same way: the arrangement is left at reception and a member of staff carries it to the resident. Put the patient or resident name and, if you have it, the unit or room in the delivery notes. A driver who reaches a desk with a surname and nothing else is dependent on whoever happens to be standing there.
For a funeral the schedule does more work than the address does. Larson Funeral Home on North Avenue and Lester Gee Funeral Home on Fairfield Avenue, both in Bridgeport, work to a service time that is fixed days in advance. Give the service time at checkout rather than the visiting hours, because the florist plans backwards from the moment the room has to be ready. If a chapel or room is named on the notice, add that as well.
Flower types may be substituted for what the florist has on hand, with no change to the size, shape or value of the arrangement. That is not fine print, it is how a hand-arranged order works. A florist in Norwalk filling an order on a Tuesday in February is building from what arrived that week, and insisting on one exact stem would mean either a delay or a thinner arrangement built around a single flower.
Color, scale and the feeling of the thing carry over. Those are what a recipient sees. If one specific flower genuinely matters, because it was in a wedding bouquet or it was someone's favorite, write that in the notes: the florist will either get close or tell you what is possible that day.
The county covers 625 square miles and roughly 942,000 people, and inside Fairfield County the density is wildly uneven. Stamford and Danbury are cities with their own ZIP ranges and several deliveries a day. Candlewood Isle and Cannondale are small enough that a driver reaches them on the way to somewhere else rather than on a run of their own.
The consequence for a Fairfield County address is the delivery window. Arrangements land between 9 AM and 7 PM. That is the whole window, and neither we nor the florist will narrow it to an hour, because the route is not built until the day's orders are in. A morning order into a dense ZIP code such as 06604 or 06605 tends to land earlier in the day than one going out to the northern lake villages, but tends is the honest word for it.
Orders placed before 1 PM Eastern time reach the recipient the same business day. The clock that counts is the one where the flowers are going, not the one where you are sitting. Sending from the west coast, that is a mid-morning cutoff for you. Sending from outside the country, ordering the afternoon before is the safer move.
Delivery runs Monday through Saturday. Sunday delivery is not available anywhere in the county, so an order placed on Saturday afternoon goes out on Monday. During Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas and Easter the same-day cutoff can fall earlier than 1 PM, because in those four weeks it is volume rather than distance that sets the limit.
Fifty-seven towns and villages in Fairfield County have a delivery page of their own, from the cities down to Old Greenwich, Westport Village and New Canaan. If you know the town, that page carries its ZIP codes and the named places we deliver to there. If you are not certain which town an address belongs to, and around here that is common, ordering against the county is fine: the ZIP code decides the routing, not the town name on the envelope.
To the north and east the county meets Litchfield County, CT and New Haven County, CT, each with its own page. Deliveries do not stop at a county line, but the pages do, so start from the one the recipient's address actually sits in.
Once the arrangement is finished, a photo of it is sent to you at no extra charge. It is a picture of the actual thing that was built and handed over, not the catalog shot, and when you are sending from three time zones away it is the only part of the transaction you can genuinely check.
Browse the full range of arrangements to choose by occasion, or start from the Connecticut delivery page if you are sending to more than one part of the state. Every order here is arranged by hand by a florist working in the area and hand-delivered to the door. Nothing ships in a box, which is the whole reason a cutoff exists.
