After the order: substitution and the finished arrangement

Once an order is placed, the design passes to a florist working near the recipient, and the first thing that can change is the flowers themselves. Flower types may be substituted for what that florist has on hand, with no change to the size, shape or value of the arrangement. Across the high country of Apache County that is a real consideration rather than a footnote, because what is in a cooler in Springerville on a Tuesday morning is not always what is in a cooler in Chinle.

Ordering by 1 PM Mountain time

An order that goes through before 1 PM Mountain time is delivered the same business day. Apache County runs on Mountain time rather than the standard clock most of Arizona keeps, and a sender two zones east should treat early morning at home as the safe window. Flower delivery runs Monday through Saturday. Sunday delivery is not available, so a Sunday event has to be covered on the Saturday before it.

Deliveries land between 9 AM and 7 PM. A preferred time can be asked for in the notes but not promised, and during Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas and Easter the cutoff can fall earlier than usual.

Hospitals and care homes in the county

Sending to a facility needs the patient's full name and, where you have one, a room or unit. Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility, Sage Memorial Hospital in Ganado and White Mountain Regional Medical Center in Springerville each keep their own front desk practice on where flowers are left, and a delivery that arrives with a complete name gets to the right room instead of sitting at reception until somebody asks.

Care homes tend to be stricter about scent and about vases in shared rooms, and Dr Guy Gorman Sr Care Home is the sort of address where a short note to the florist asking for a low, unscented design is worth writing.

Discharge is the other risk worth planning around. If the patient is likely to be sent home within a day or two, the house address is the safer target, and a delivery that arrives at an empty bed helps nobody.

Sympathy and funeral flowers

For a service, the venue and the hour matter more than the delivery window does. Flowers should be in place before mourners arrive, which in practice means the day before, and with no Sunday run a Monday service has to be arranged on the Saturday. Sympathy sends to a private home are different: they can arrive on any working day of the week, and are often better a few days after the service, when the house has gone quiet again.
