San Francisco, CA Flower Delivery by Hand

Substitution in a City This Size

The first thing to settle is where the recipient actually lives. San Francisco is the seat of San Francisco County, CA, a county of 47 square miles and about 827,526 residents, and it shares its edges with places senders often mix up with it. Daly City, CA and Brisbane, CA have their own pages, and so does South San Francisco, CA, which is a separate city despite the name. The Alameda County, CA page covers the towns on one side, while the San Mateo County, CA page lists the neighbors on another.

Once the address is right, the next question is what the florist has. In a city this large, stems are rarely the problem, but they still vary by the day. Flower types may be substituted based on availability, with no substitution in the type of arrangement: no change in size, shape or value. The florist keeps it as close to the pictured design as possible, which usually means a different rose color or a similar filler, not a different gift.

Hospital Rooms and Apartment Buildings

Two kinds of address make up most orders here. The first is a hospital. For a patient at UCSF Medical Center or at Chinese Hospital, write the full name as it appears on the admission record and, if you know it, the room. For a resident at Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, the full name and the unit matter most. Keep hospital arrangements compact, since bedside space is limited and some units have their own rules about flowers.

The second is an apartment building. Include the unit number, any buzzer or entry code the recipient has shared, and a phone number, because a florist cannot leave an arrangement on a sidewalk. For an office tower, name the company, the floor and the front desk. Offices close earlier than homes, so a workplace order is best placed for a weekday with a morning request in the notes.

There are dozens of ZIP codes inside the city, 94102, 94110 and 94122 among them, so copy the one from the recipient's address rather than guessing. A wrong ZIP is the most common reason an order in a dense city needs a second attempt.

Birthday and Thank-You Orders

Birthdays and thank-you orders are the most common reasons people send flowers to San Francisco from out of state. For a birthday, a home address works if someone is likely to be in; otherwise the workplace is safer. For a thank-you to a doctor, a nurse or a colleague, send it to the office on a weekday and address it to the person by name.

Get well arrangements follow the hospital advice above. Anniversary orders are often surprises, so say so in the notes and leave the recipient's phone number as a backup rather than a heads-up. Keep the buzzer code out of the card message: anything typed into the card field is printed and read by the recipient.

Funeral flowers in San Francisco are usually sent to a funeral home, a church or the family's apartment. For a service, the venue name and the service time are what matter; for a home in a building with a doorman or a lobby, add the unit and the name of the person who will receive it. A vase arrangement or a plant suits a small apartment better than a large standing spray, and it can stay after the visitors leave.

Same Day Flower Delivery in San Francisco CA

Same day flower delivery in San Francisco depends on the Pacific clock: an order placed before 1 PM Pacific time can arrive the same business day, and anything later goes out on the next delivery day. From the East Coast, the line falls at 4 PM Eastern, which gives a sender most of the working day.

The city gets deliveries Monday through Saturday, with no Sunday delivery at all. Arrangements arrive between 9 AM and 7 PM, and a specific time can be requested in the notes but not promised. Traffic and parking in a dense city can move a delivery, so leave the hour open if the day is what matters.

Around Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas and Easter the same-day cutoff for the whole county can come earlier, so order a day ahead for those dates.

Picking the Right Size of Arrangement

People searching for a flower shop in San Francisco, CA often want to walk into one and point. On this page there is no counter to walk into; you pick from the catalog, and a florist near the recipient makes the design by hand. The delivery charge is shown at checkout.

Size is the main decision. In a small apartment or a hospital room, a compact vase is the right choice. For an office reception desk, a medium arrangement makes a statement without crowding the counter. For a home with space, a larger vase or a plant that will outlast the week. If you came looking for a florist in San Francisco, or for florists near San Francisco in the towns around it, the plan is short: confirm the city, send flowers before 1 PM Pacific time, and watch for the photo of the finished arrangement, which is sent at no extra charge. An order that reached a San Francisco address in the wrong shape should be flagged within three days, and it is put right with a replacement, a refund or a partial credit.
