Flowers Across Essex County, NY

The distance is the thing to understand first. Essex County covers 1,794 square miles of high country, and 12946 up at the ski village and 12870 down at the southern lake are separated by mountain roads rather than by a highway. A florist near one is not near the other, which is why the town pages exist under this one.

Towns Across 1,794 Square Miles

Six ZIP codes cover the five towns: 12944, 12946, 12956, 12870, 12996 and 12998. Lake Placid sits in the middle of the range, Keeseville at the northern edge, Schroon Lake in the south.

The seat is at Elizabethtown, which is smaller than several of the towns around it and smaller than most county seats in the state. That is unusual, and it is worth knowing because the seat is not where most orders for Essex County end up. The ski village takes more deliveries in a week than the seat does in a month.

The 1 PM Cutoff at Lake Placid

An order placed before 1 PM Eastern time is worked the same business day at any of the six ZIP codes. Flower delivery runs Monday through Saturday, and on these roads the window still holds at 9 AM to 7 PM.

Sunday delivery is not available anywhere in Essex County, so a Sunday occasion has to be covered by a Saturday arrival. On these roads in February the morning half of the window is the half to count on, and a day of notice is worth more in Essex County than in almost any other county in New York. A road closed by snow is a delay no cutoff can absorb.

Nearby Mineville and Willsboro Point

The last two towns on the list are Mineville inland and Willsboro Point out on the water, and each keeps a page of its own beneath this one. Five town pages for 1,794 square miles is the thinnest cover of any county in this batch, and it is the honest picture rather than a shortened one.

Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid is the one named institution the data holds for Essex County, and an order going there wants a resident's room rather than a street. Beyond the county line, Clinton County, NY begins to the north and Warren County, NY takes over to the south, with the full list on the New York county delivery page.

A Funeral Order for Keeseville

Sympathy work over this much ground needs the service address and the hour, not the family's home address, because a standing spray left at a house has to be moved again. The arrangement range separates the standing pieces from the ones a family can set down and leave. In Essex County the service is as likely to be in a small church as in a funeral home.

Flower types may be substituted for what the florist has on hand, and neither the size nor the shape nor the value of the arrangement follows the change. At this altitude the substitution season runs long. A photo of the finished arrangement is sent at no extra charge once the florist has made it, which over these distances is the only account of the delivery a sender gets.
