Clay County, AR Flowers Delivered

Piggott Community Hospital on Gordon Duckworth Drive is one of three buildings in this county that receive flowers most weeks of the year. The others are Piggott Healthcare and Senior Living a few streets away and Corning Therapy and Living Center over at the county seat. Rector Nursing and Rehab makes a fourth. Between them they explain why a page for Clay County is more useful than a page for any one of its towns alone.

Sending flowers to a hospital bed

Patient flowers arrive at a front desk and are carried on from there by staff. It is a sensible system and it only fails on missing information. Put the patient's full name in the delivery notes, and the ward or room number if the family has told you one. If the patient has been discharged by the time the driver arrives, a contact number for you or for a relative is what allows the arrangement to be redirected rather than returned.

Care homes follow the same routine. Residents change rooms, so a name plus a unit beats a name plus a room number that is six months old. A short line saying who the sender is also helps, because staff at a desk are often asked and rarely told.

Same-day, and where the clock is set

An order placed before 1 PM Central time goes out the same business day. The zone is the one the recipient lives in, and in the northeast corner of Arkansas that is Central time all year. Sent from the Atlantic seaboard, you have until early afternoon. Sent from the Pacific, late morning. Sent from outside the country, order the day before and stop thinking about it.

Flower deliveries run Monday through Saturday. Sunday delivery is not available, so the last chance to reach somebody before a Sunday event is the Saturday run. In the busy weeks around Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas and Easter the same-day cutoff can be earlier than 1 PM, and in those weeks the sensible plan is to order midweek rather than on the morning itself.

Anniversaries and birthdays in the county

Away from the hospital orders, most of what goes into these three towns is a celebration of some kind. A birthday, a fiftieth anniversary, a new grandchild, a retirement. For those the useful advice is about the address rather than the arrangement: send to where the person will actually be during the delivery window, which runs from 9 AM to 7 PM, and if that is a farm rather than a street address, add a landmark or a gate description to the notes.

Deliveries to a workplace are worth timing toward the middle of the day if you can. An arrangement that lands after the office empties has to travel again, and the second attempt is never as good as the first.

The three towns of Clay County

Corning is the seat and sits under 72422. Piggott carries 72454 and Rector carries 72461. Each town has its own delivery page listing its postal code and the named places we reach there.

Clay County covers 639 square miles and holds around fourteen thousand people, and it is an awkward shape: the two halves of it were historically served from different seats, and a driver crossing from one side to the other is making a real journey rather than a detour. This is the main reason a delivery time cannot be fixed in advance, and it is also why this page is more useful than a guess at which town an address belongs to.

A funeral order, and what the florist needs

For a service, the time of the service is the piece of information that does the most work. Visiting hours are useful context but they are not the deadline. Name the chapel or the room if the notice does, and give the family name as it appears on the notice rather than as you know it, because that is what will be written on the board at the door.

If a service is on a Sunday, the flowers have to arrive on the Saturday. That is not a preference, it is the delivery schedule, and knowing it a day earlier is worth more than any amount of choosing.

Families in this part of Clay County often hold a visitation in one town and the service in another, and the two buildings are rarely on the same street. Give the address the flowers are meant to stand in rather than the address on the notice, because those are not always the same place, and a piece delivered to the right town and the wrong room is a piece nobody sees.

Substitutions and the delivery photo

Flower types may be substituted for what the florist has to hand. The arrangement type is fixed: no change in size, shape or value, and the substitution is made to keep the finished piece as close to the ordered item as the day allows. In a small county in AR that flexibility is what makes a same-day order possible in February rather than only in June.

A photograph of the finished arrangement is sent to you at no extra charge once it is built. Neighboring pages are Greene County, AR to the south, and over the line Butler County, MO and Dunklin County, MO. For the wider state, start at the Arkansas delivery page, and the arrangements are grouped by occasion.
